Jai Maa Ambe! Jai Maa Durga!
Following auspicious celebrations of Ganesh Chaturthi, we are now excited to celebrate Durga-Puja.
Durga-Puja celebrations will be held on Sep-29 (Sunday), in VCC from 17:30 to 20:30. Please check the attached Chirashi for details.
Cultural exchange:
This shall also include cultural exchange program with our Japanese friends as the celebrations will include Garba (& Dandiya) which is quite similar to Bon Odori. It will be interesting to have a fusion of Bon Odori& Garba!
Influence in Japanese history:
Maa Durga in the form of Maa Saraswati has been depicted in two different postures: 1) Benten (Maa Saraswati in Japanese) with a flute as a Mother of learning & 2) Benten with a sword (resembling Maa Durga) as a Mother of power protecting from evil spirits (negative thoughts). There is an image of Benten in war-like posture, in Enoshima, holding a sword in her hand with a serpent and tortoise sitting at her feet & two Deva kings standing on either side.
PS: It is a community event with no entrance fee.
