Div2 – Team MIB, Division 2 season kicked off their debut season with a big win over “Wyverns” by 152 runs. 31st March 2018

MIB scored 263 in 40 overs and bundled the opposition in just 112 inside 30 overs. A clinical performance in all the 3 departments of the game.
Saturday 31st March 2018, will go down in the history of MIB as one of the memorable day as the Team made their debut in Japan Cricket League (JCL).

After winning the toss MIB elected to bat first. Looking to post a challenging total on the board, openers gave a decent start, but unfortunately few quick wickets by the Wyverns put MIB on the back foot. After seeing the new ball through and absorbing the pressure captain (Amol) took the charge and played the anchor role, scoring 68 of 76 balls including 9 fours and 1 six. Sanket and Abhipraya provided decent partnerships with Amol by scoring 29 and 19 runs to steady the innings before the debutant striker Sarfraz, came to the crease and started the onslaught by hitting the first ball to six. He scored quick fire 53 of 25 balls including 5 fours and 4 sixes. Vikash finishing the innings with quick 20 of 9 balls, taking the total score to 263 in 40 overs.

Chasing a big total, Wyverns needed a good start but Vikash and Sanket the strike bowlers of MIB had other plans. Bowling a good line and length put Wyverns on back foot by taking early wickets and making the chase more difficult. Maintaining the pressure debutant Siddarth (3 wickets) and Ameya (2 wickets) took 5 wickets between them in just 7 overs spell and finished any remaining hopes Wyverns would have had. There was some late resistance from Wyverns but Hitesh and Abhipray the experienced bowlers, tightened the screws with their good line and length picking up a wicket each.

MIB needed just 1 wicket to win their debut match and Sanket provided that with a brilliant runout in his follow through and the Wyverns were bundled out for just 112 inside 30 overs. MIB registered their first win in Division 2 of JCL by a big margin of 152 runs.
